The Samla is a very similar design to the Japanese Higonokami style knife.

The rosewood handle has a center inserted blade that is top brass pivot mounted for a sleek style and design. The blade is retracted from the center by pressing on the metal flapper on the back of the blade. From there pressure from your thumb against the flapper once it sits flush into the back of the handle keeps the blade fixed and sturdy for use.

The blade is not locking.
